Student participation was the key to celebrations leading up to Mid-Autumn Festival at SIS this year. Students cooked moon cakes, made lanterns and watched a stunning professional performance of the Lion Dance last Tuesday afternoon. Kindergarten children held a special assembly and performed some traditional dances and songs and heard the Legend of the Moon Festival and Chu Cuoi told by teachers using shadow puppets. The children were overjoyed to see Ms Ngan and Ms Hanh dancing in lion costume before the concert ended with a lantern parade.
The whole school was decorated with very colourful lanterns and some students brought masks and lion costumes to school.
Everyone enjoyed eating some moon cake to end the festival and primary and secondary students had their own Lion Dance competition at recess on Oct 4th. Class Y6 won the competition with their white lion giving a stunning and acrobatic performance.
