STEM: Look what we made!

This week there has been a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) focus. There were many houses and bridges as the result of the Kindergarten theme, “I can build”. Primary students were challenged with designing and building either a self-watering planter pot or a glider while secondary students enjoyed building a balloon-powered car. First, teachers guided students in using problem-solving skills and then the students worked collaboratively to do the construction and then test what they had built. The great glider challenge, “Lift Off’, was held on Friday when Year 5 classes competed to see whose glider could fly the farthest.
